What to see in Naples in 2 days — The perfect itinerary from La Peonia B&B

Naples in 48 hours: everything you cannot miss

Naples is a city that never stops surprising. Chaos and beauty, history and modernity, the scent of coffee and pizza, narrow alleys and breathtaking views. If you only have 2 days, this is the itinerary we recommend to our guests after years of hospitality at B&B La Peonia.

DAY 1 — The UNESCO Historic Centre and the sea

9:00 AM — Spaccanapoli

Start your day walking along Spaccanapoli, the street that cuts Naples in two like an arrow. Here you find the true soul of the city: artisan nativity scenes, antique bookshops, Baroque churches and fry shops.

9:30 AM — Cappella Sansevero

One of the absolute wonders of Naples: the Veiled Christ by Giuseppe Sanmartino is one of the most extraordinary sculptures in the world. A block of marble carved so finely it looks like real silk. Book your ticket online — places are limited.

12:30 PM — Pizza for lunch

You cannot be in Naples without eating authentic Neapolitan pizza. Choose between Sorbillo or Trianon — both just a short walk from La Peonia.

5:00 PM — Piazza del Plebiscito

The largest square in Naples, dominated by the Basilica of San Francesco di Paola and the Royal Palace. The sunset panorama is magnificent.

5:30 PM — Naples Seafront

Stroll along the Lungomare Caracciolo with views of the Gulf and Vesuvius. One of the most beautiful panoramas in Europe — free and always open.

DAY 2 — Museums, Islands and surroundings

9:00 AM — National Archaeological Museum

The most important archaeological museum in the world, with the treasures of Pompeii and Herculaneum, the Farnese collection and the Secret Cabinet. Dedicate at least 2–3 hours.

Afternoon: choose your adventure

  • Option A — Capri or Ischia: From the Port of Naples (400 metres from La Peonia!) ferries depart for the Gulf islands
  • Option B — Pompeii and Vesuvius: Take the Circumvesuviana from the Central Station
  • Option C — Amalfi Coast: Amalfi, Positano and Ravello about 1.5 hours from Naples

Practical tips

  • Transport: Metro lines 1 and 2, ANM buses, or on foot in the historic centre
  • What to buy: Coffee, limoncello, nativity figures from Via San Gregorio Armeno
  • Our service: At La Peonia we are always available to advise you on excursions and personalised itineraries
